Now when in the year 2019 District Taekwondo Association Varanasi started conducting Black Belt Test for a total payable price of Rs. 1857 /- only then it marked many questions on the system. People now stated think of the 90's time when they use to pay Rs. 5000/- for the same and value of Rs 5000/- use to really huge then what is used to be nowadays.
In the '90s people used to wait for at least a minimum of 2 years time to get their black belt once they appear for it and they are declared passed. It can be easily calculated when 100s of athletes are giving black belt exams what kind of revenue used to be received. This has been the first step toward bigger scams in Taekwondo i.e, charging 5 to 6 times more amount than what it actually costs for a black belt. In Taekwondo the black belts are issued from Kukkiwon, world taekwondo headquarters, South Korea. Those who are registered can apply for a black belt online. Booking a railway ticket on IRCTC and applying for a black belt in Kukkiwon has only one difference that for a black belt one has to upload a photograph as well that's it.
If the people who do railway tickets would have known that doing a similar process then can earn huge, they would also have purchased 4th Dan Black belt and registered themself in Kukkiwon and would have started earning Rs 3500 to Rs 4000 on every application, as of now there are 159 registered organization in Kukkiwon for Black Belt

This black belt business can be understood from the fact that many judicial complaints and cases were raised for exploitation, taking money and giving certificates, etc, etc

After the strong foundation of the black belt business and disputes during the '90s. In the General Body election, it became such a dispute that it went to the high court for authentic identity, who is legal, who is illegal, here below is one of the screenshots about the court case the issue.
The year 2000 has gifted two national taekwondo bodies both by the name of the Taekwondo Federation of India to the whole country which resulted in two State Taekwondo Associations in almost every state and hence two District Taekwondo Associations as well and hence the full flagged dispute started.
Just like any political party, the anti associations started making allegations about each other, giving certificates of being corrupt to each other, etc, etc,
In the year 2000 after a full-fledged dispute started the new emergence of additional business concepts apart from black belt stated, The ID card business, The National Referee and Refresher seminar business which use to happen twice in the state and participants had to pay Rs 2500 /- without getting any basic facilities or even food and accommodation. Another business model was introduced which is Instructor Course. By the end of the year 2010, a full-fledged model of Taekwondo Competition came into practice, and many so-called open national and open international Taekwondo Championships had been and are continuously organized charging thousand of fees to athletes, the event certificates which are just a piece of paper for claiming any job or admission in Universities were and are projected as the best for a sports career opportunity and platform.
These practices became such a loot that athletes reported that they were fooled and exploited by so-called national and international championships, many parents reported they were fooled and were told their child has been selected for the international championship but it as been a so-called international event in India, Nepal, Bhutan, etc.
After knowing the business potential of the Taekwondo Championships business, exploiting athletes by charging huge money and not providing even the basic facility of food and accommodation all the association also started such practices to pocket money.
People heading the association are not making them accountable for all the funds which are collected, and no one knows where all the funds are being spent. No one is allowed to question the Rs .12 - 15 lakhs amount which is collected from athletes and where all this money went.
In this covid pandemic during the lockdown people heading various national and state associations organized online championships by taking a huge amount entry fee and the worst part has been when world taekwondo the supreme organization in this pandemic organized the Online World Poomsae Open Challange none of the associations supported any of the athletes.
