Late Shri Janardan Mishra :- Father of Martial Arts Therapy for disabled in Varanasi
In Varanasi the Martial Art Therapy concept was started by Late Shri Janardan Mishra in late 80s .
This was never an experiment but yes a confidence . He started this therapy on the paralyzed children struggling with polio etc .
The result was extremely outstanding , children not became confident of doing things better but also they got tremendous improvement in there particular problem as well such as a polio suffering kid was found to have more power, flexibility in the effected leg.
Late Shri Janardan Mishra use to conduct these free classes which provided a lot of smiles to many .
As Late Shri Janardan Mishra was himself an expert martial artist, a black belt degree holder in Taekwondo so he was extremely capable of motivating the disabled children by all kinds such as kicking , punching as well as using special equipment such as Nan Chaku , Lathi etc and children can perform from a lot of varieties and options .
Martial arts therapy is a concept still in development. Researchers have yet to conclusively identify the specific features of martial arts that foster a physical or psychological benefit. but Late Shri Janardan Mishra already proved his science of martial art therapy as it was beneficial in terms of Health , Fitness & wellness.
Wellness because at that time in our society a physically challenged child had to be a lot hopeless as of lack of treatment , so it leads to inferiority complex in them but as they were able to do a lot of thing after learning martial art therapy which an ordinary common man can not do so it would not only give them confidence but also a feeling that they are alot better then a lot of normal person. Some have theorized (see Israeli study cited above) that an important feature is the dyadic interplay between students in most arts; the cooperation and response to feedback in practicing techniques such as throws or strikes may have a carryover to cooperation in real-life settings. However, even if all features are conclusively discovered within a specific art or system, there remains the issue of to what extent the instructors within that art/system provide those features to their students but Late Shri Janardan Mishra perfected it so well that he challenged the martial art therapy equally beneficial to def and dumb children and people.
As his father was a doctor in Banaras Hindu University so a lot of doctors were also surprised and exited as well .
Ordinary people were not ready to accept this but actually it was all scientific , a physics of distance , speed and sound .
A person who can not listen for them the training method was based on speed and distance & for those who can not see it was only sound , realization of movements .
It was extremely high level of expertness of Late Shri Janardan Mishra that made training comfortable to everyone , no matter what problem one may have .
This success was highly appreciable and respectable by everyone in Banaras Hindu University .
The dedication and expertise as well as the extreme success of Martial Art Therapy of Late Shri Janardan Mishra gave a new birth to an academic course of Martial Arts that too in Banaras Hindu University.
University launched a 6 months certificate course in Martial Arts & Self Defense and appointed Shri Mishra as the head in-charge and trainer for the same.
For more then 15 years he continued the successful heading of the course till his sudden death.
Still now the university conducts this course.
He also established a center of Martial Arts learning excellence at Assi Ghat as Universal Martial Art Institute in late 80s which is still being run by his son Mr Rajat Mishra .
Late Shri Janardan Mishra leaded life of an extraordinary person because of his excellence of Martial Arts not of only as as sports but primly as a curing thing as that of his father.
He brought a change in the life of many disabled person and his martial art therapy made people socially , emotionally as well as physically fit which was not available in medical science at that time.
